Lazy Days

OK, so. Almost a month has passed since my last post. I'm sorry. I just a bit rubbish at this blogging malarkey! I think I just need to get into the habit, break in to my stride, you know...

  Any way. Just did a naughty bit of online shopping.It was all a bit spur of the moment and I have been good with money for the last couple of weeks so it's O.K. Here is what I bought:

Only seven of your English pounds! It is currently on sale at Peacocks. I was instantly drawn to the colours and the almost Erdem style print. It might look a bit naff in the flesh but I will let you know!

Well, me and the boyfriend popped down to London for the day (change of scene, ya know) and whilst there I purchased a scumptious looking box of macaroons! I know they are 'the new cupcakes' but honeslty, how PRETTY are these?! Cake wait to get muching on them, after some drawing and photography mind....

Where did summer go?

For a very brief few days, I really thought summer was trying to eek it's way back into my life. However as I sit here, in my dressing gown, heating on, I still haven't given up hope, despite the chilly wind outside.

Fingers crossed for a scorcher!

For my final project this year (eeeek!), I have chosen to design a scarf in commemoration of France's last true queen, Marie Antoinette. 

Before I began my research, all I knew of her was that she supposedly said "Let them eat cake!". Oh, and all that business with the guillotine. Really, I just liked the idea of doing something French and girly, something a different (for me, anyway). However, within seconds, a world of eighteenth century spin and tabloid style bullying emerged. 

Apparently, much of  the legend of Marie Antoinette was conceived before she even entered France. She was, at the tender age of fourteen, a human sacrifice to French-Austrian diplomacy. This though made me even more excited by my new project!

I have decided to commemorate not the woman, but the idea; the hyped up image of a powdered lady, gorging herself on confectionery, surrounded by lap dogs and finery. Excess and debauchery are far more enticing than the truth...
